Are you passionate about preserving and sharing the rich history of Aotearoa New Zealand? Auckland Museum is looking for a dedicated individual to join the Auckland Museum Trust Board in a remunerated role to support the museum's mission of collective remembering and commemoration.

About the Opportunity

As a member of the Auckland Museum Trust Board, you will play a crucial role in upholding the museum's significance as Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland War Memorial Museum, which tells the story of New Zealand, its place in the Pacific, and its people. This initial two-year appointment offers you the chance to contribute to this important mahi and make a lasting impact on the community.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in contemporary governance, with the ability to build relationships with corporate and philanthropic organizations. You should have a deep understanding and connection to Auckland's diverse communities, as well as experience in engaging with the public for the greater good. Knowledge of tikanga Māori and experience working with tangata whenua will be highly valued, along with an understanding of the museum's role as a War Memorial.

About Auckland Museum Trust Board

Established by the Auckland War Memorial Museum Act 1996, the Auckland Museum Trust Board oversees the financial management, maintenance, and development of the museum. Working in collaboration with appointing bodies like Auckland Council, the Trust Board plays a vital role in supporting the museum's objectives and preserving its heritage.
