About the Role

The role of a Fitter and Turner is crucial in maintaining the operational efficiency of plant equipment. This includes performing preventative maintenance, addressing breakdowns promptly, and upholding strict safety standards. Responsibilities also involve inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical and electrical issues in various machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems
• Repair or replace defective parts using appropriate tools
• Install new machinery and equipment ensuring proper alignment
• Conduct preventive maintenance activities
• Read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals
• Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance work

Requirements for Success

To excel in this role, candidates should be a fully qualified Fitter Turner or Maintenance Engineer with completion of a recognized apprenticeship. Basic electrical knowledge is advantageous, along with experience in operating various equipment like air compressors, mixers, and pumps. Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
