Position Overview

The Group Legal Counsel will play a crucial role in overseeing all legal and regulatory affairs of the Group. This senior position will involve handling corporate, commercial, compliance, regulatory, company secretarial, and corporate governance matters. While the role is envisaged to be part-time, full-time candidates are also welcome to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support to key stakeholders such as the CFO, Divisional CEOs, and Board
  • Review key contracts, procurement, and supply agreements
  • Handle litigation and commercial disputes
  • Advise on consumer law and property matters
  • Oversee Company Secretarial duties, including board meeting facilitation
  • Act as a key advisor on Corporate Governance matters
  • Monitor legislative changes and advise on updated requirements
  • Engage external legal advisors and manage their work, quality of service, and costs
  • Assist the CFO with regulatory and compliance matters
  • Supervise the management of the company's intellectual property portfolio

Key to Success in this Role

To excel in this position, the ideal candidate should have:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in relevant legal areas
  • Current practising certificate
  • Commercial mindset and pragmatic approach to legal matters
  • Breadth of experience across corporate/commercial and litigation
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Australian and NZ legal experience would be highly desirable
