Health Coach role

Job requirements

• A broad understanding of health, social services, and mental health challenges within Pacific communities
• Ability to speak Tongan (is advantageous) as most of the clients seen out South Auckland are Tongan
• Knowledge of protocols amongst Pacific peoples with the ability to work across various Pacific groups
• Positive ‘can-do’ attitude

Job responsibilities

• Support patients/clients and their family through the development of skills, tools, confidence, and lifestyle choices
• Conversations around mental health and providing emotional support
• Linking families into other services relevant to wellness

Qualifications

• Background in health, mental health, or social services
• Passion for working alongside Pacific people and their families

Skills

• Flexibility and variety of approaches in working with patients/consumers
• Understanding of Pacific context, values, uniqueness, and diversity
