About Higher Ground
Higher Ground Drug Rehabilitation Trust is dedicated to providing quality abstinence-based treatment within a therapeutic community for clients with severe alcohol and drug dependencies. Located in Te Atatū, Higher Ground offers an 18-week residential program based on the 12 Step recovery principles.
Position Overview: Residential Counsellor
We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Residential Counsellor to join our professional team. As a Residential Counsellor at Higher Ground, you will be responsible for establishing relationships with clients, facilitating group sessions, designing treatment plans, and supporting the overall well-being of our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish relationships with clients
- Facilitate group sessions
- Design and implement treatment plans
- Support and mentor students
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team. Experience in group facilitation, knowledge of the 12-step program, and previous work in an Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) facility are beneficial.
Requirements
- Level 7 qualification in a relevant discipline
- Current practicing certificate with a professional body
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a social work, mental health, or AOD setting
- Minimum of 2 years of continuous abstinence if a personal history of substance dependence
