Job requirements

  • Experience in working with disability, health, police, and family violence sectors
  • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and disability rights
  • Experience in kaupapa Māori, violence and abuse prevention, disability, or mental health organizations

Job responsibilities

  • Partner with the Chief Executive to ensure a Tiriti-based organization
  • Advocate for transforming abuse prevention and response systems
  • Collaborate with other organizations and stakeholders
  • Support kaimahi Māori and contribute to their professional development
  • Ensure the wellbeing of tangata whakkaha Māori

Qualifications

  • Personal experience of disability or identifies as a disabled person
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability

Skills

  • Excellent communication and modeling of core values
  • Leadership in setting up new systems
  • Resilience in dealing with abuse stories
  • Understanding of abuse prevention and response strategies
  • Fluency in te reo and understanding of disability rights
