Join Our Team as an Early Childhood Educator at the University of Auckland

If you are a passionate and committed ECE qualified and registered teacher, the University of Auckland has an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic team. Our Early Childhood Education Services aim to provide high-quality care for children aged from three months to five years, across six early childhood centres in Auckland.

About the Opportunity

The position available is at the Alten Road ECE centre, located within the heart of the University of Auckland's city Campus. This homely yet spacious heritage-style centre is licensed for 39 children and caters to ages 3 months to 6 years. The ideal candidate for this role would be someone who is dedicated to nurturing children's learning and development in a mixed-age setting.

This is a full-time (40 hours) permanent position with competitive salary offerings (Full Parity) and five weeks of annual leave per year. The successful applicant will have ample opportunities for professional growth and be part of a learning community that values whakawhanaugatanga.

What We're Looking For

To excel in this role, you should:

  • Be a New Zealand qualified and registered teacher with a passion for children's learning
  • Have the ability to work with children of all age groups, especially the younger ones
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of Te Whāriki and be able to apply current theories into practice
  • Communicate effectively, build positive relationships, and work collaboratively with the team
  • Show a growth mindset, openness to reflection, and a commitment to providing quality interactions and learning
