Job Description for General Communications Officer
Role Overview
This is a permanent role with a three-day or 24 hours a week commitment. The General Communications Officer will be a crucial member of the Union's communications and media team, supporting both internal and external communication endeavors.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain various communications channels and materials.
- Write, edit, and distribute content such as publications, press releases, website content, and more.
- Monitor social media platforms and create engaging content and campaigns.
- Produce content for union videos and E-News.
- Ensure all communication materials adhere to union standards and style guides.
- Generate reports for communication campaigns.
- Assist with any other communication and media-related duties as needed by union secretaries.
Qualifications
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and various social media applications.
- Knowledge of social media strategies and best practices.
- Creativity, attention to detail, and innovation.
- Graphic design, photo, and video editing skills are a plus.
- Commitment to collaboration and supporting diverse communities.
- Understanding and willingness to demonstrate the Union's commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Location and Salary
Location: Auckland CBD
Salary Range: $80,000 - $92,000 per year
