Are you an aspiring Māori journalist looking to gain real experience in promoting Te Reo and Te Ao Māori in media? Join RNZ’s paid internship program inspired by veteran Māori broadcaster Henare te Ua.
About the Opportunity
RNZ established the Henare te Ua Māori Journalism Internship in 2017 to provide training and development pathways for Māori individuals interested in pursuing a career in journalism. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work alongside RNZ news staff, research, report, write, and present news and current affairs stories. Additionally, you will learn about the inner workings of RNZ, produce Māori content for all RNZ platforms, and develop audio and visual content for various programs and news stories.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Journalism
- Strong understanding of te reo and tikanga Māori
- Good writing, multi-media, radio, visual, and social media skills
- Knowledge of digital editing techniques desirable
- Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tikanga
