Legal Council - Employment Relations
Location: Auckland Central
Duration: 12-month fixed term
Team: Tight-knit collaborative team with genuine flexibility and WFH days
Opportunity: Explore diverse and interesting work within Auckland Council's Employment Relations Team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide advice on a wide range of employment relations scenarios
- Partner with stakeholders to navigate employment law implications
- Work on various projects and Council initiatives
- Resolve ER issues to achieve the best outcomes for all parties involved
Requirements:
- 4-6 years' experience in law firm or in-house advisory environment
- In-depth knowledge of ER best practice and employment legislation
- Familiarity with New Zealand jurisdiction and relevant legislation (e.g. Employment Relations Act 2000, Holidays Act, Privacy Act, Human Rights Act)
- Ability to provide advice on legal and policy matters, and represent in mediations and hearings
- Proven experience in managing ER issues and disputes
- Strong interpersonal and relationship skills
- Ability to manage risk and find pragmatic resolutions
