Job requirements

- **Relevant qualification in Resource Management, Environmental Planning, Geography, Public Policy, Law, Māori Studies, or related field** - **2-5 years of experience in local government in policy development and/or resource consents** - **Strong understanding of RMA planning processes and environmental legislation** - **Experience with district, regional, or unitary plan changes and/or resource consent processes** - **Knowledge and appreciation of tikanga Māori**

Job responsibilities

- Work collaboratively with the Mahea team on policy analysis and research tasks - Support spatial plans preparation, iwi management plans, and plan reviews - Assist in resource consent applications and specialist inputs coordination - Contribute to co-design engagement processes for resource management planning - Collaborate on planning initiatives and strategic development - Liaise with mana whenua to integrate their values into resource management processes - Conduct research and analysis for evidence-based decision-making

Qualifications

- Relevant qualification in Resource Management, Environmental Planning, Geography, Public Policy, Law, Māori Studies, or related field

Skills

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills - Experience with GIS tools for map creation - Valid NZ Driver's license
