Senior Legal Counsel - 12 Month Fixed Term Role

Location: Auckland Central

Duration: 12 months

Role Description:

• Critical and influential role within the Employment Relations Team at Auckland Council
• Opportunity to work in a tight-knit collaborative team
• Contribute meaningfully to employment relations strategies and initiatives
• Provide expert advice on a wide range of employment relations scenarios
• Partner with stakeholders to address industrial and employment law implications
• Work on various projects and Council initiatives
• Ensure strong relationships with union partners are maintained

Key Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in legal advisory environment
• In-depth knowledge of ER best practices and New Zealand employment legislation
• Experience in mediation and Employment Relations Authority hearings
• Proven track record in managing ER issues and disputes
• Excellent interpersonal, relationship, and organizational skills
• Ability to provide advice on employment-related legal and policy matters
• Committed to working in partnership with unions
