Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Senior Local Area Manager to contribute to creating a more equitable, accessible, and people-centered health system. This pivotal role involves working towards eliminating health inequities and improving outcomes for Māori communities.

About the Opportunity

As a Senior Local Area Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Crown's relationships with Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi. You will be responsible for designing community-based systems of care, executing health and wellbeing plans, and monitoring outcomes to drive continuous improvement. Working in partnership with Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora colleagues, you will shape public health services across the motu.

The successful candidate will be the local expert in provider relationships, overseeing budgets, establishing localities, and fostering relationships with various stakeholders. Supported by regional teams, the Senior Local Area Manager will lead the implementation of new services, integration programmes, and quality improvement initiatives.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive senior-level commissioning and community development experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in system and service design
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Experience in navigating regulated environments and working collaboratively across functions
