Role and Responsibilities

As an Assistant Underwriter at Monument, your primary responsibility will be to provide administrative support to the SMARTpak Underwriting team, specifically in tasks related to credit control and broker tolerance referrals. You will work closely with the underwriting team to underwrite new and renewal business within designated authority limits, ensuring premium growth and profit objectives are met. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining positive relationships with brokers and stakeholders, finding solutions to underwriting problems, and adhering to underwriting guidelines and procedures.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate for this role will have a minimum of 2 years of previous underwriting experience and a solid understanding of insurance guidelines and legislation. You should be able to provide a professional level of underwriting service to brokers, find solutions to underwriting problems, and build positive relationships internally and externally. A tertiary qualification in Commerce, Financial Services, Insurance, or relevant industry certifications would be advantageous.
