Position Overview

As a Process and Safety Engineer at PPG in Auckland, NZ, you will play a crucial role in driving improvements in Lean Manufacturing, Absolute Material Utilization (AMU), Productivity Cycle-time, and shop floor enhancements. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing Process Safety Management (PSM) activities to ensure compliance with regulations and global requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implementing Absolute Material Utilization (AMU) improvements to enhance cost-efficiency
  • Optimizing processes and standard costing using 6 Sigma Principles and LEAN tools
  • Facilitating product transfers and scale-up into manufacturing
  • Designing equipment and processes, from inception to end-use
  • Developing new manufacturing methods while benchmarking with global centers
  • Leading Process Hazard Analysis and ensuring equipment integrity
  • Conducting plant-wide PSM awareness training

Qualifications

Successful candidates should have a background in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an advanced degree in an EHS-related field. Relevant certifications and experience in EHS disciplines are required. Proficiency in Statistical Process Control and Business Process Improvement tools is essential.
