Job Opportunity: Caregiver Social Worker at Oranga Tamariki

About the Role

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children is seeking a passionate Caregiver Social Worker to join their team in Grey Lynn, Auckland for a 12-month fixed term position. In this specialized role, you will be responsible for recruiting, assessing, and supporting caregivers who play a crucial role in the lives of tamariki who cannot live safely at home. Your primary focus will be on providing tailored support to caregivers, ensuring they are well-prepared to offer nurturing, safe, and stable environments for the children in their care.

Requirements and Responsibilities

As a Caregiver Social Worker, you must hold a Social Work qualification and be registered with SWRB. You will collaborate closely with the child's Social Worker to address key issues, develop personalized strategies, and work with various agencies and community groups to meet the needs of caregivers. Your role will involve building relationships with both whānau and non-whānau caregivers, emergency and respite caregivers, and long-term caregivers to facilitate positive outcomes for tamariki.

What You Will Bring

- Recognized Social Work qualification by SWRB - Full registration with SWRB and an annual practicing certificate - Resilience, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills - Commitment to upholding the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi - Good understanding of section 7(AA) of The Oranga Tamariki Act - Passion for caregivers and their success - Excellent relationship management and communication skills - Valid New Zealand driver's license
