Job Description: Specialist Investigator - Asset Recovery Unit

New Zealand Police is seeking a Specialist Investigator to join their Asset Recovery Unit based in Greenlane, Auckland. The primary goal of the unit is to disrupt criminal activities by seizing assets acquired through illegal means, thus preventing criminals from benefiting or reinvesting in unlawful ventures. As an investigator in this unit, you will play a crucial role in conducting financial investigations, preparing court orders, and collaborating with other law enforcement agencies to target serious criminal activities.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role include: - Building and maintaining partnerships internally and externally - Effectively managing multiple investigations and meeting deadlines - Preparing court orders and affidavits with clarity - Conducting interviews and assessing evidence of criminality - Managing risk in relation to criminal investigations - Maintaining detailed records of information and decisions

Requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess: - Broad investigative knowledge and experience - Previous financial background or experience with financial investigations - Ability to critically analyze financial data and present findings confidently - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Collaborative working approach and the ability to build partnerships

Special Requirements

Candidates applying for this role will be required to: - Complete a PCT fitness test - Undergo PITT Level 2 Responder training - Hold a relevant tertiary qualification and/or five or more years of criminal investigation experience - Pass drug and alcohol testing - Hold a Class 1 full driving license and current first aid certificate
