About Us

Te Tai Awa o Te Ora is a kaupapa Māori organization with a rich history of providing culturally appropriate social services in south Auckland for nearly 30 years. Our work is deeply rooted in Māori world views, including tikanga and mātauranga Māori. While about half of our clients and staff are Māori, the other half are predominantly Pasifika. Our client-centered and strengths-based approach focuses on supporting individuals in making positive changes in their lives. We also acknowledge and address the socio-cultural, economic, and political factors that impact people's well-being.

We are currently seeking a qualified social worker or counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate must hold a social work or counseling qualification recognized in New Zealand, be eligible for professional registration, and possess at least one year of relevant experience. A valid driver's license is also required. The successful applicant should demonstrate local knowledge, a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the ability to work effectively in a bi-cultural and/or multi-cultural setting. While applicants of any ethnicity are welcome, experience working with Māori and/or Pasifika individuals is essential. Prior experience with children would be advantageous.
