Showquest is New Zealand’s largest performing arts programme and event for young individuals aged 5-18 nationwide. School groups have the opportunity to create mini-Broadway stage performances, allowing students to develop leadership skills and showcase their talents on a professional stage. The events serve as an unforgettable night of celebration and recognition within their community. Students can participate as performers, dancers, choreographers, backstage crew, live musicians, and lighting technicians.

A significant component of Showquest is Toi, our wearable art programme held in collaboration with World of WearableArt. On event day, student designers undergo a professional photoshoot of their garment, meet with mentors, and rehearse on stage. During the evening show, they present their garments on stage. Showquest and Toi are organized by RQP, the team behind creative development programmes like Smokefreerockquest, Smokefree Tangata Beats, Rockshop Bandquest, OnScreen, and Stills.

We are seeking a high-energy, detail-oriented, and passionate individual to join our team for the upcoming Showquest & Toi 2024 series. The successful candidate will work closely with the Producer and other key stakeholders to ensure the seamless execution of events, contribute to the development of young talent, and support the long-term sustainability of Showquest.

Key responsibilities include assisting with tour logistics, communications with school groups and students, managing office and event supplies, moderating performance videos, organizing health and safety documentation, data management, admin tasks, venue set-up and pack-down, welcoming school groups, working on event-day entertainment activations, coordinating school groups, assisting with awards ceremony and press releases.

Our ideal candidate is passionate about youth, performing arts, and live events, detail-oriented, task-focused, a team player, experienced with live events, genuinely interested in the positive impact on youth, and ideally holds a qualification in Event Management, Marketing, or Communications.

The position involves working part-time in the office in April and May, then full-time as the Event Assistant Coordinator during May and June. Travel is required for event days from 20 May to 26 June. All travel, food, and accommodation expenses are covered during the touring period.

We offer mentorship, skill development, career growth opportunities, a diverse role, the ability to contribute ideas, and a chance to enjoy the success that follows. The fixed-term position includes hourly wages during office hours and a fixed fee for event tour.

To apply, please send your CV and cover letter to kelsey@rockquest.co.nz. RQP is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experiences. Up to 2 applicants will be selected, and roles will be tailored accordingly.
