Join a Dynamic Legal Team Supporting Infrastructure Projects in New Zealand

Job Overview:

We are seeking a strategic and energetic lawyer to join our in-house Legal team in the Environment and Property division. This role involves providing expert legal advice and leadership to support the delivery of major infrastructure projects in New Zealand. You will be part of a collaborative team working towards the purpose and vision of NZTA | Waka Kotahi.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the consenting, environment, and property legal functions
  • Provide strategic leadership in resource management, environment, planning, and property legal work
  • Manage a team of high-performing individuals
  • Anticipate and manage legal risks in a complex environment
  • Offer innovative solutions and pragmatic legal advice

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • 15+ years of post-qualification legal experience
  • Experience in public and administrative law
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Understanding of Te Ao Māori and willingness to promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori
