About Us
Copain, a renowned French bakery located at 55 Mackelvie St, Ponsonby, is currently looking for a dedicated Head Baker to be a part of our team. We operate 7 days a week, offering a wide array of French artisan breads and pastries to our valued customers.
The Role
We are in search of a skilled Head Baker with a minimum of 5 years of experience in artisan bakeries, ideally at a management level. The ideal candidate should possess a baker's qualification and expertise in crafting French artisan breads, viennoiserie, and pastries like croissants, pain au chocolat, and pain au raisin.
Position Details
- Permanent, full-time position
- Minimum of 40 hours per week, with the potential for up to 60 hours during peak periods
- 5 shifts per week with 2 consecutive days off, including weekend availability
- Shifts typically start between 2am-3am and end between 10am-11am
Responsibilities
As the Head Baker, you will be responsible for managing the production schedule for both our wholesale and retail sections. This includes processing orders, planning team prep, ensuring timely baking, and maintaining product quality. Additionally, you will oversee staff management, training, cost control, and food hygiene standards.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this role will be based on experience, ranging from $65,000 to $75,000 per year. In addition to a competitive salary, you will have the opportunity to work on new products and seasonal variations while upholding our commitment to quality.
