This permanent position is available in Wellington, Auckland, Palmerston North, or Hamilton. As a pivotal part of the team, you will be instrumental in shaping the network security posture of Waka Kotahi, ensuring the protection of critical assets from cyber threats.

The Opportunity

The primary objective of this role is to lead the implementation and operation of controls and management strategies to maintain security, confidentiality, integrity, availability, accountability, and compliance of information systems within the organization. The Security team at Waka Kotahi focuses on safeguarding people, information, and assets in both physical and cyber environments. As a subject matter expert, you will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of audits aligned with the Information Systems Audit Methodology.

About You

To excel in this role, you should possess significant experience in network security leadership or a related field, showcasing your expertise in infrastructure, firewalls, IAM, vulnerability management, application, and cloud security. A deep understanding of security concepts and their practical implementation is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial for identifying and resolving security issues effectively.

Some of the qualifications and certifications that will be beneficial for this role include CISSP, CCSP, CCIE, Microsoft Azure/Defender, or equivalent industry certifications. Familiarity with NZISMF, NZ Protective Security Requirement (PSR), and NZ Security Classification System is desirable. An understanding of Te Ao Māori and promotion of tikanga and Te Reo Māori are also valued attributes.
