Job Description Optimization for Social Worker Position in Schools

Overview

The STRIVE Community Trust is looking for a dedicated and qualified Social Worker to join their team in supporting at-risk youth and their families in six high schools in Auckland Central. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing assessment, individual and family support, and facilitating group programs to enhance the well-being and life outcomes of students.

Responsibilities

• Engage with young people from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Identify underlying reasons for social or educational challenges
• Develop realistic goals for students and their families
• Collaborate with social service agencies
• Monitor and review interventions to ensure effectiveness
• Work with community agencies to increase opportunities for youth development

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work
• Minimum of three years of experience working with at-risk youth
• Knowledge of adolescent behaviors and ability to engage and motivate youth
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and case management skills
• Cultural awareness, particularly of Maori and Pacific Island cultures
• Valid driver's license
