Job Opportunity: Matua

The Fonua Ola Network is looking to hire two Matua who can provide cultural leadership and support within the organization. The Matua will play a crucial role in implementing the organization's vision and mission while delivering and affirming Pasifika cultural best practices in service delivery. They will also provide organizational leadership and support to ensure the cultural safety of all Pasifika clients, families, caregivers, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the vision and mission of the Trust
  • Deliver Pasifika cultural best practices in service delivery
  • Provide organizational leadership and support
  • Build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders
  • Promote educational learning and training for cultural competencies

Requirements

Successful candidates for the Matua position should:

  • Have in-depth cultural knowledge in Pacific language, customs, and spirituality
  • Be able to confidently speak a traditional Pacific language in public forums
  • Hold Matua, Matai, or Chief Leadership status in the Pasifika community
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply Pacific health models and concepts in case management
  • Preferably have a formal qualification in Health, Mental Health, addictions, or community development
  • Possess a clean, current driver's license
