MENTAL HEALTH NURSE Full-time Job

JOB DESCRIPTION: Mental Health Nurse at Tongan Health Society Inc.

Job Purpose:

The Mental Health Nurse position at Tongan Health Society Inc. involves providing a range of clinical services to address the complex health needs of mental health patients. The role requires working in a multidisciplinary environment with a multi-skilled team to make a difference in the lives of families affected by mental health issues. The service follows a stepped care model of care and Whanau ora model of care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide personal counseling and mental health nursing services using validated tools
• Develop positive relationships with clients through restorative and mediation meetings
• Offer advice and guidance on mental health nursing services to clients and their families
• Liaise with external agencies such as CYPS, Police, and support groups
• Facilitate Whanau Ora referrals for mental health support

Core Competencies and Essential Skills:

• Hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate
• Experience in mental health nursing
• Understanding of Whanau Ora Models of care and mental health stepped care models
• Ability to work independently in clinical and outreach settings
• Proficient in report writing and data analysis
• Strong communication skills in English; Tongan language skills are a plus
• Experience working with Pacific clients
• Hold a clean full NZ driver's license
