Introduction
Burnett Foundation Aotearoa, formerly known as New Zealand AIDS Foundation, has been a prominent figure in the community's response to HIV in Aotearoa for over 35 years. The organization takes pride in its history and is dedicated to achieving zero HIV transmission and ensuring the well-being of all individuals living with HIV, as well as promoting sexual health within rainbow and takatāpui communities.
Job Opportunity
This position offers a unique chance to utilize your research skills and personal experiences within a respected community organization with a strong focus on the sexual health needs of gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBM). The role also involves expanding into new areas to support the broader rainbow and takatāpui communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing information and data related to service provision and key populations.
- Providing advice to team leads, managers, executives, and the board.
- Supporting the delivery of education and messages to various stakeholders in different settings.
- Responding to internal and external information requests.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Proficiency in quantitative data analysis and statistical software packages.
- Prior experience in academic or community research.
- Evaluation experience in projects, programs, or services.
- Ability to think critically, synthesize information, and communicate complex scientific research effectively.
Desired Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications would be advantageous:
- Knowledge of HIV and sexual health issues, particularly those affecting men who have sex with men.
- Lived experience in priority populations such as men who have sex with men, people living with HIV, Māori, and individuals from high HIV prevalence countries.
- Previous involvement in HIV prevention work.
- Understanding of the not-for-profit sector.
