About the Opportunity

Are you ready for a life-changing experience in Arawa, Bougainville? VSA is offering a unique 12-month volunteering assignment where flights, accommodation, and other expenses will be covered. This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in a new culture while contributing to sustainable development goals. As a VSA Volunteer, you will work with a partner organization to create a fair future for all. VSA will take care of organizing and funding flights, visas, insurance, accommodation, living allowance, and utilities during your assignment. Please note that VSA Volunteers must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.

The Assignment

This assignment is a partnership between VSA and World Vision Papua New Guinea. As a Water and Sanitation Technician, you will work collaboratively with World Vision to build the capacity of local staff and ensure high-quality water and sanitation outcomes in Bougainville. Your expertise will be crucial in delivering future projects to a high standard, making a lasting impact on the community.

The Volunteer

We are seeking a dedicated individual with a Bachelor's degree in engineering, plumbing certificate/experience, or related field. Experience in practical plumbing delivery, engineering projects, cross-cultural collaboration, and mentoring/coaching staff is essential. Desirable qualifications include experience in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) projects, project management, and stakeholder engagement. If you are passionate about making a difference, adaptable, and resourceful, this opportunity is for you.
