Located in Te Atatū Peninsula, the organization focuses on an 18-week residential program based on the 12 Step recovery principles.

Job Overview

Higher Ground is seeking a Residential Counsellor to join their dedicated team of professionals. The role involves establishing relationships with clients, facilitating group sessions, maintaining treatment records, and designing individualized treatment plans. Additionally, the position requires supporting and mentoring students of Higher Ground.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate should possess a Level 7 qualification in a relevant discipline such as Mental Health, Alcohol & Drug Studies, Psychotherapy, Psychology, or Social Work. A current practicing certificate with a professional body like DAPAANZ or other HPCA registration is required. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years' experience in social work, mental health, or alcohol and drug services. Knowledge of the 12-step program and experience in an AOD facility are advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

- Establish relationships with clients and assist them in understanding their concerns - Facilitate group sessions - Maintain treatment records - Design and implement individual and group treatment plans - Support and mentor students of Higher Ground
