Join our Team as a Residential Counsellor at Higher Ground

Higher Ground Drug Rehabilitation Trust is dedicated to providing quality abstinence-based treatment within a therapeutic community for clients severely dependent on alcohol and drugs. Located in Te Atatū, we are currently seeking a Residential Counsellor to join our team of professionals.

Responsibilities:

• Establish relationships with clients and assist them in understanding their concerns
• Facilitate group sessions
• Maintain treatment records
• Design and implement individual and group treatment plans
• Support and mentor students

Qualifications and Skills:

• Passion for the industry and ability to work well in a team
• Demonstrated ability to meet individual client needs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in group facilitation
• Knowledge of Te Tiriti O Waitangi and the 12-step program

Requirements:

• Level 7 qualification in a relevant discipline
• Current practicing certificate with a professional body
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience
• Personal history of alcohol and drug dependence requires two years of abstinence
