Overview

The Ministry of Justice is offering an exciting opportunity to join their Collections team as a Bailiff. As part of the Ministry's debt portfolio management, the Collections team plays a crucial role in enforcing outstanding fines, reparation, and civil debts through warrant execution and serving court documents. The Bailiff function is a national operation with a team spread across different locations in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce outstanding fines, reparation, and civil debts
  • Serve court documents
  • Visit individuals at their homes and workplaces
  • Execute warrants which may include attaching wheel clamps or seizing assets
  • Work independently and make decisions under pressure
  • Handle challenging situations with resilience and negotiation skills
