Responsibilities of the Deputy Editor

As the Deputy Editor, you will collaborate closely with the Editor and Art Director to maintain Homestyle's editorial voice and uphold the high standards that have solidified its position as a go-to source for home and design inspiration over the past two decades. Your primary duties will include writing editorial features, creating integrated content for advertising partners, and sub-editing the magazine. The ideal candidate should be adept at short and long-form writing, as well as conducting interviews confidently.

Contract Role Details

This position is on a contract basis and is best suited for freelancers with schedule flexibility. You will be expected to dedicate approximately 100 hours over a two-month production cycle, with the exact hours open for negotiation. While our office is located in Auckland, the role itself is remote-friendly, accommodating our team spread across Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, who have been primarily working remotely for the past few years.

Requirements and Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in editorial roles
• Passion for home, design, and lifestyle content
• Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects effectively
• Familiarity with the New Zealand media landscape is a plus
