Role Description:

As a Health Improvement Practitioner, you will work within General Practice clinics in Papatoetoe, offering brief interventions to empower individuals in reaching their health and wellbeing goals. This fixed-term maternity cover position has the potential to become permanent, providing a fulfilling opportunity to make a difference in the community, particularly among Māori, Pasifika, and youth populations. You will be part of a team that is integrated within general practice teams and connected to a national rollout, receiving specialized training and mentoring in Primary Care Behavioral Health and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Responsibilities:

- Providing brief psychological interventions, including Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT) - Delivering evidence-based group programs to patients - Offering consultation, education, and advice to other members of the General Practice team - Developing intervention pathways alongside GPs and nurses to support local population health

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should: - Be a registered mental health professional (psychologist, psychotherapist, mental health nurse, social worker, occupational therapist, or DAPAANZ registered counselor) - Have training in talking therapies such as ACT, FACT, or CBT - Be self-motivated, independent, and a team player dedicated to improving health and wellbeing - Demonstrate resilience, flexibility, and strong organizational skills
