Manager - Climate Transition Full-time Job

As part of their ambitious transformation program, Auckland Transport is seeking a Manager - Climate Transition to lead the charge towards a low-emission, climate-resilient organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Climate Transition team and oversee climate transition planning for Auckland Transport and the Auckland Council group.
• Assess and manage climate-related risks and opportunities.
• Deliver Auckland Transport's greenhouse gas inventory and associated reporting.
• Provide oversight of the electric vehicle program.
• Embed sustainability in systems, processes, and policies across Auckland Transport to ensure consistent practices.
• Manage sustainability-related information, education, storytelling, and specialist advice.

Role Purpose

The Manager - Climate Transition role aims to facilitate the transition to a sustainable and climate-resilient organization that actively contributes to the region's climate goals. Responsibilities include leading the Climate Transition team, preparing strategies and policies, engaging with stakeholders, driving sustainability initiatives, and fostering communication within the organization.

Qualifications and Experience

• Excellent understanding of climate change and greenhouse gas emissions.
• Experience in central or local government roles focusing on strategy and policy implementation.
• Knowledge of local government legislation and practices.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering strategic initiatives across functions or agencies.
• History of working in sustainability policy/strategy, climate risk management, or climate-transition planning.
• Relevant degree and post-graduate qualifications.
