Horticulture New Zealand (HortNZ) represents over 4,200 commercial fruit and vegetable grower members across New Zealand. As an industry good organisation, HortNZ focuses on policy advocacy, organisational leadership, and sector representation. Governed by an elected Board, the organization's vision is "Oranga kai, oranga tangata, haere ake nei," translating to "Healthy food for all, forever."

Chief Executive Officer (CE) Role

HortNZ is currently seeking a dynamic Chief Executive Officer to lead the organization in providing industry leadership and strategic direction. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and relationship-building skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels, including growers, government, business, and iwi. The CEO will be responsible for continuing the transformational change within the organization to ensure its relevance and effectiveness in the future.

• Build and maintain key relationships with stakeholders
• Drive policy advocacy initiatives
• Manage a high-pressure role with energy and passion
• Deliver on the strategic plan to support the growth of the horticulture sector

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate for the CEO role at HortNZ should possess the following:

• Experience working in an interdisciplinary environment
• Strong influencing skills at the industry-government interface
• Background in policy and advocacy
• Leadership experience in an agribusiness or membership organization (preferred)
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills
