Overview
Auckland Council is seeking a new chair for the Eke Panuku Development Auckland Board in 2024. This leadership position offers a unique opportunity to impact the future of Tāmaki Makaurau by guiding complex negotiations and large-scale projects. The successful candidate will influence how Auckland Council manages assets and properties, contributing to the regeneration of urban locations and enhancing the overall livability and connectivity of town centers.
Responsibilities
- Support the regeneration of council's urban locations on Auckland Council-owned land
- Enhance the amenity, attractiveness, and resilience of town centers
- Engage with communities and stakeholders to strengthen the connection between people and place
- Develop unused and underutilized property assets to unlock revenue and enable new developments
- Manage council's assets, including commercial, residential, and marina infrastructure
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- Deep governance experience, including leadership of complex organizations
- Prior chair experience
- Proven expertise in overseeing complex negotiations and large-scale projects
- Commercial acumen
- Understanding of Te Ao Māori and community engagement
- Industry experience in property development and urban regeneration
About Eke Panuku
Eke Panuku is a council-controlled organization responsible for facilitating urban redevelopment, managing non-service property portfolios, and providing strategic advice on council property matters. The organization aims to optimize public transport outcomes, sustainable infrastructure, and quality public services and amenities.
