Overview

As an Information Security Consultant at Auckland Council, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance on Information Security measures, implementing strategies to maintain risk within acceptable levels, and ensuring adherence to Security Policies and industry best practices. Your role involves supporting Architect teams in Council initiatives, formulating security strategies, roadmaps, and controls, and acting as a crucial escalation point for Security Operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide authoritative guidance on Information Security measures - Implement strategies to maintain risk within acceptable thresholds - Advise on mitigating actions against potential threats - Ensure adherence to Security Policies and industry best practices - Support Architect teams in Council initiatives - Formulate and execute Information Security Strategy, Roadmap, and Controls - Act as an escalation point for Security Operations - Handle intricate incidents and change requests effectively - Drive impactful security solutions within Agile frameworks

About You

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates should ideally possess: - Tertiary-level qualifications in disciplines like Law, Computer Science, or Information Technology - Relevant industry certifications or equivalent professional experience - 10+ years of experience in Information Security - Minimum of five years in design or consulting roles within complex organizational contexts
