Introduction
At Mercy Hospice, we are dedicated to providing equitable and culturally responsive care to our patients and their whānau. We are currently looking for a Kaiārahi Māori Cultural Liaison to join our Family Support Team.
Position Details
This is a permanent, part-time position offering 24 – 32 hours per week, providing a work-life balance and flexibility in your work schedule. As part of our team, you will have access to free parking, convenient transport links, and a company vehicle for community visits.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering culturally safe palliative care to patients, whānau, and the multidisciplinary team
- Supporting Māori cultural practices and knowledge within the organization
- Participating in policy development specific to the needs of Māori patients
- Building strong relationships with staff and volunteers
- Acting as an educator and mentor within the hospice
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Te Reo and Mātauranga Māori
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups
