Auckland Zoo is offering a unique opportunity to join their Animal Care & Conservation team as a Bird & Ectotherm Keeper. By taking on this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the zoo's commitment to wildlife preservation both within the zoo and in the field.

Responsibilities of the Role

As a Bird & Ectotherm Keeper, you will be responsible for the care of the zoo's birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates. Your duties will include providing top-notch husbandry practices, conducting research to enhance knowledge of these species, and creating exceptional animal habitats for the zoo's visitors. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to conservation programs both on-site and in the field, making a positive impact on endangered species.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate for this role should have at least three years of professional experience working with relevant taxa. A background in bird and ectotherm husbandry is essential, along with a tertiary qualification in zoology, biology, conservation, or animal husbandry. Strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to conservation, and the ability to deliver excellent customer service are also key attributes for this position.

What We Offer

This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $54,080 - $64,919 NZD per annum, depending on experience. The role involves working on a flexible roster, including weekends and public holidays.
