Whare Tiaki Hauora is a non-governmental organization dedicated to providing crucial support services to vulnerable community members in the Counties Manukau area since 1977. Operating on Kaupapa Maaori principles, our services are designed to address the needs of the community and create positive solutions for whaanau.

The Opportunity: Kia Ora Ake Kaiaawhina

Kia Ora Ake is a tamariki hinengaro wellbeing approach for Counties Manukau, part of the national Mana Ake program. As a Kaiaawhina, you will play a vital role in enhancing the care provided by our clinical team. We are seeking 2 full-time Kaiaawhina who will focus on offering comprehensive support to whaanau and delivering tailored wellbeing programs to the kura/school community.

Responsibilities and Support

In this position, you will build strong relationships with kura/schools, serving as a trusted point of contact. You will work alongside clinical and cultural experts within our team and collaborate with the Kia Ora Ake network of providers. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing individualized support to whaanau
  • Delivering wellbeing programs to address identified needs
  • Building positive relationships within the community

Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful as a Kaiaawhina, we are looking for candidates who possess:

  • Experience as a community leader or practitioner
  • Willingness to engage in professional development in tamariki hinengaro wellbeing
  • Background in health, social, or education sectors
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in relationship-building
