As a Pou Tūhono within the Rangatira mō Āpōpō team, you will play a crucial role in assisting hapū māmā and mātua taiohi (young parents) in overcoming barriers and achieving their education, employment, and training aspirations.

Responsibilities of a Pou Tūhono

  • Support hapū māmā and mātua taiohi in setting and achieving work-ready goals, accessing training, and securing employment.
  • Provide wrap-around support to address challenges such as housing, young parent payment, transport, and mental distress that may hinder participation in training or employment.
  • Conduct wānanga/workshops to enhance the skills of hapū māmā and mātua taiohi.
  • Create a safe space for individuals to reconnect with their Māoritanga, hapū, iwi, and whakapapa.
  • Establish strong relationships with local businesses, Māori organizations, and community networks to facilitate goal achievement.

About E Tipu e Rea Whānau Services

E Tipu e Rea Whānau Services is a Kaupapa Māori organization that offers comprehensive support to rangatahi, focusing on individuals aged 14-26 who are hapū or already have children. The mission of the organization is to support mātua taiohi and pēpi in growing, thriving, and becoming rangatira within their iwi, hapū, whānau, and community.

E Tipu e Rea has a strong partnership with Ngāti Paoa Iwi Trust (NPIT) and holds NPIT health and social service accreditation. Operating in areas such as Sylvia Park, Panmure, Mount Wellington, and more, E Tipu e Rea leverages the wisdom and knowledge of mana whenua to guide its work effectively within the community.
