About the Role

Are you ready to make a difference in the future of energy generation and the environment in Aotearoa? Genesis is looking for a dynamic individual to take on the role of Pouhere Māori/General Manager Māori. This newly created position will report to the Chief Wholesale Officer and play a crucial role in driving collective value through internal and external partnerships with iwi and hapū across New Zealand.

Responsibilities

As the Pouhere Māori/General Manager Māori, you will be the pillar that binds together people within Genesis and with external Māori relationships. Your responsibilities will include upholding Māori values and principles, supporting the implementation of Genesis' te ao Māori strategy, and advising the executive leadership team. Additionally, you will contribute to building cultural competency within the organization and strengthening partnerships with a focus on people and relationships.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience in working with iwi, hapū, and Māori organizations, preferably on large-scale projects or negotiations related to land use. Proficiency in Te Reo Māori, knowledge of tikanga Māori, and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi are essential. You should also have a proven track record of engaging with senior leaders, boards, and possess strong leadership and influencing skills. Being action-oriented and outcome-focused will be key to succeeding in this position.
