The University of Auckland is seeking a Research Operations Manager to lead two University-wide research initiatives focused on climate change, biodiversity, and energy research. This is a split role supporting each initiative at 0.5FTE and involves strategic planning, operational management, stakeholder engagement, and funding support.

About the Team

The successful candidate will work within the Science Faculty, the largest and most highly ranked science faculty in New Zealand. The Faculty of Science comprises 10 departments and schools, representing the breadth and diversity of science in the modern world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning and implementation of workplans for the research initiatives
  • Manage operations, including financial planning, event coordination, and risk management
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, internal and external
  • Support the inclusion of indigenous knowledge and perspectives in the initiatives
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities

Required Skills

  • Postgraduate or relevant tertiary qualification in a science-related field
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and project management
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Previous experience in a management position, preferably in the Tertiary Education sector
  • Ability to work collaboratively and prioritize tasks effectively

Location and Benefits
