Senior Primate Keeper at Auckland Zoo

Auckland Zoo, located in the vibrant city of Auckland, New Zealand, is looking for a Senior Primate Keeper to join their dedicated team in the development and management of the primate section.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialist care for the primate collection
• Contribute to conservation efforts in the zoo and the field
• Engage visitors through exciting and educational experiences
• Supervise daily husbandry duties to ensure welfare needs are met
• Work on implementing training and enrichment programs
• Collaborate with colleagues to promote wildlife conservation

Requirements:

• Minimum of five years' experience in primate husbandry
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Knowledge of animal welfare and conservation practices
• Experience in supervising and training staff
• Understanding of small population biology

Preferred Qualifications:

• Great ape experience
• Project management skills
• Research and scientific writing experience

What We Offer:

Annual salary of NZD $71,973.00 per annum with additional benefits and discounts.
