## Job Opportunity at Auckland Zoo: Zoo Animal Care and Wildlife Conservation Internship

### Overview Auckland Zoo is offering a unique opportunity for individuals from Aotearoa, New Zealand, and Oceania to join their Animal Care & Conservation team through a six-month paid internship. This internship provides hands-on experience in zoo animal care, wildlife conservation, and engaging with visitors to communicate conservation messages effectively.

### Internship Details As an intern, you will work closely with the zoo's keepers and veterinary staff, gaining experience in husbandry, training various animal species, and participating in engaging displays and shows. The program includes on-the-job training, lectures on zoo and conservation topics, and practical projects such as a 'Species Action Plan'. Regular assessment and feedback are provided to support your learning and development.

### Qualifications Applicants must be residents of Aotearoa, New Zealand, or Oceania, eligible to live and work in New Zealand. While a degree in biological sciences/conservation is preferred, relevant experience or certification in zoo animal management will also be considered. Physical fitness to work in outdoor environments is essential for this role.

### Benefits The internship runs from 14th October 2024 to 18th April 2025. Interns are expected to work full-time hours, including weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis. Limited on-site accommodation may be available as part of the remuneration package. Successful completion of the program results in a Certificate of Achievement and detailed training records.
