Job Description for Kaitohutohu Matua - Kaupapahere Māori at Ministry for the Environment
Overview
The Ministry for the Environment is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Kaitohutohu Matua - Kaupapahere Māori. This key senior leadership position involves embedding quality standards related to te Tiriti and te ao Māori into the policy framework of the Ministry to enhance the quality of advice provided. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that the Crown's relationship with Māori is honored and statutory settlement commitments are met.
Responsibilities
As a member of the Environmental Management and Adaptation rōpū leadership team, the Kaitohutohu Matua will work on driving the Ministry's strategic policy agenda by collaborating with various stakeholders. This role involves working closely with the Ministry's Chief Advisor cohort, quality review networks, and the Pou Whakahaere Te Tiriti and Te Ao Māori to ensure that multiple perspectives are incorporated into the Ministry's work programs.
Skills and Experience
- Expertise in Tiriti impact and settlement legislation
- Deep knowledge of te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Significant experience in applying te Tiriti into policy and operations
- Credibility in developing relationships with key stakeholders
- A relevant policy qualification
Salary Range
The salary range for this role is from $221,713 up to $268,895 per annum, based on skills and experience.
