Antarctica New Zealand is looking for a General Manager Antarctic Operations to join their team in Christchurch and play a crucial role in supporting world-leading science and environmental protection efforts in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean.

About The Role

As the General Manager Antarctic Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing the management of Scott Base facilities, infrastructure, and assets, as well as providing logistics support for Antarctic and Southern Ocean research. Your role will involve leading the development of operational models, preparing and delivering annual Antarctic seasonal plans, and fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship. You will also be instrumental in cultivating partnerships with stakeholders and implementing incident management systems.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in safety, operations, planning, and logistics, coupled with strategic thinking abilities. You should possess strong leadership skills, including experience with coordinated incident management, and a proven track record of building trusted relationships with key stakeholders. Experience with remote operations and logistics would be advantageous.
