About Whakauae Research for Māori Health

Whakauae is the only iwi-owned Māori health research center in Aotearoa New Zealand, dedicated to transforming Māori lives through excellent research. Operating under Ngā Tikanga o Whakauae, their set of principles includes values like mana, rangatiratanga, kaitiakitanga, manaaki tangata, and whanaungatanga, drawing upon the guidance of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Hauiti.

Join as a Business Manager

As a Business Manager at Whakauae, you will play a crucial role in the organization's growth as an independent research entity. Collaborating closely with the Research Centre Director, your responsibilities will include managing the Research Office, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and overseeing audits. You will lead a small team, developing their capabilities and nurturing relationships within the organization.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will have a humble spirit, a strong desire to contribute to the shared vision of meaningful research and change, and be open to working in a values-based, kaupapa-Māori environment. While proficiency in Te Reo and tikanga Māori is beneficial, willingness to learn and engage respectfully is highly valued.

Experience in financial management, strategic thinking, and supporting organizational growth is essential for this role. A relevant accounting or finance qualification is required, with a CA qualification being desirable. If you resonate with the organization's values and mission, this could be the opportunity for you to make a difference.
