About The Piano
The Piano is a musical arts space located in the heart of Ōtautahi Christchurch, dedicated to bringing communities together through music and the arts. About the Role
The Piano is currently seeking a Director to provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring financial stability, and sustainability in line with its charitable objectives. The Director will oversee day-to-day operations, lead the team, manage contractors and volunteers, and maintain the organization's reputation within the arts community. Key responsibilities include strategic planning, financial management, stakeholder engagement, and fostering a culture of excellence.
Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess specialized knowledge and experience in the music and arts industry, along with strong connections within the arts community. They should demonstrate proficiency in financial administration, budget management, and fundraising, as well as effective leadership skills to inspire stakeholders. Experience in arts administration, relationship management, and strategic thinking is crucial, along with the ability to navigate challenges in a dynamic arts landscape.
Desired Attributes
Candidates should be experienced in arts administration and musical programming, capable of building relationships with a diverse range of organizations and individuals. Strong communication skills, negotiation abilities, and a commitment to high standards of client service are essential. Personal qualities such as resilience, integrity, and diplomacy are key, along with a background in music education or performance. Familiarity with Xero accounting software is also advantageous.
