Auckland Council is seeking visionary and experienced individuals to join the inaugural board of Auckland Future Fund Trustee Limited in 2024. This newly established council-controlled organization aims to manage a substantial fund exceeding $1 billion to preserve its value for the benefit of future generations and support the funding of essential services and infrastructure in Auckland.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidates should possess a deep understanding of financial markets and investment management, with a proven track record in overseeing large-scale portfolios. Strong governance background is essential, along with the ability to navigate political landscapes. Candidates should be committed to upholding the Treaty of Waitangi principles and delivering positive outcomes for Māori communities.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a board member, you will play a crucial role in appointing and overseeing the fund administrator and investment manager(s), ensuring compliance with the Auckland Future Fund policy framework, and managing performance reporting and planning for the council-controlled organization. Additionally, you will be responsible for distributing returns to Auckland Council and proposing adjustments to the distribution policy when necessary.

About Auckland Future Fund Trustee Limited

Established as part of Auckland Council's Long-term Plan, Auckland Future Fund Trustee Limited will manage an initial investment portfolio valued at around $1.3 billion, targeting a net return of 7.24% per annum. A portion of the returns will be reinvested in the fund, while an average of 5.24% will be allocated annually to support the council's infrastructure projects and operational needs.
