Overview

Are you passionate about water safety and experienced in managing lifeguard teams? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! We are currently looking for a dedicated Water Safety Coordinator to join our Ocean Swim Series team. This role involves coordinating lifeguard teams for weekly events and major ocean swim events, ensuring the safety of participants and maintaining high standards of water safety protocols.

Responsibilities

Part One: Coordinating Guard Teams for Weekly Events

As the Water Safety Coordinator, your responsibilities will include: - Recruiting, training, and managing a team of qualified lifeguards for various events in the series - Implementing safety plans and protocols for each event - Coordinating guard schedules and ensuring adequate coverage - Conducting pre-event and post-event briefings with the guard team - Maintaining up-to-date records of guard certifications - Liaising with local authorities and emergency services to ensure compliance with safety regulations - Running a pre-event training day for the upcoming season

Part Two: Coordinating Guard Teams for Major Ocean Swim Events

For major ocean swim events, your key responsibilities will include: - Acting as the On Water Coordinator on event days - Creating and managing lifeguard schedules - Monitoring lifeguard movements for optimized safety coverage - Performing safety inspections of aquatic equipment - Evaluating lifeguard performance and providing feedback

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you should have: - Current lifeguard certification with open-water experience - Minimum 3 years of experience in water safety management or related field - Strong leadership and team management skills - Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities - Proficiency in scheduling software and basic computer applications - Relevant qualifications such as Senior Lifeguard Award, IRB Driver, or Surf Lifeguard Instructor Award
